Description

Champagne Cattier Clos du Moulin Premier Cru

Champagne Cattier Clos du Moulin Premier Cru is a non-vintage Clos du Moulin champagne from one of Champagne's few historic clos, located in Chigny-les-Roses (Montagne de Reims). This Cattier Premier Cru is a faithful reflection of a unique terroir, aged for over 7 years on lees at low dosage (≈5-6 g/l).

Technical details

  • Clos area: 2.2 hectares, sustainable viticulture (HVE level 3)
  • Blend 50% Chardonnay / 50% Pinot Noir (occasionally up to 12% Meunier)
  • Aging: 7-8 years on lees, extra-brut dosage
  • Production: limited run (≈7,000-10,000 bottles), each bottle numbered

Sensory profile

Visual: pale gold color, very fine, persistent bubbles. On the nose, elegant aromas of fresh citrus (lemon, grapefruit), dried fruit (apricot, mirabelle plum), with floral (white flowers) and pastry (toasted brioche, vanilla) touches. On the palate, creamy texture, mineral tension, saline nuances, discreet red fruit notes, white chocolate and a long, balanced, straightforward finish.

Cuvée strengths

- Precise expression of the Montagne de Reims Premier Cru terroir
- Classic blend (Chardonnay/Pinot Noir) guaranteeing freshness and structure
- Prolonged aging on lees offering complexity and harmony
- Limited production, a rare and sought-after cuvée.

Serving suggestions and pairings

Ideal serving temperature: 9-11°C. Drink now or within 5-7 years to discover more tertiary aromas. Pairs perfectly with seafood (shellfish, oily fish), soft cheeses and delicate white meats.
