Somewhere between the dry and semi-dry, the Pol Roger Rich House Champagne is an assembly which comprises of a third of each of the following main grapes: Pinot Meunier, Pinot Black and, of course, Chardonnay. A further 35g / 1 dosage is then added – this, composed of wine and sugar-cane.
Made from a remarkably wide variety of wine – from between 2 and four Vintages – the wines in question are fermented separately, so as to stay true to the original grass-root flavours. 3 years is then allowed for ageing in the deepest cellars of the Pol Roger house in Epernay. It all makes for a Vintage that is deep and densely golden yellow in colour – made all the more arresting by those discreet copper highlights...
Fine, regular bubbles add to the creamy effervescence of this blend. As does the balanced nose and mingling notes of dried fruit and heady floral aromas, bolstered by woody smells. Moments later there is a hint of spice discernible. On the palate the attack is full and complex featuring fruit flavours and dynamic spicy notes. Finishing all this wonder is a climax smoothed to a great end by the aromas of caramel.
The finish is marked by beautiful aromas of caramel.
