Since its founding in 1912, Champagne Telmont has established itself as a prestigious benchmark in the heart of the Champagne region. Born from the visionary mind of Henri Lhôpital in Damery, this family-owned house cultivates a tradition of excellence based on intergenerational expertise, respectful viticulture, and the unique terroir of the Marne Valley, with clay-limestone soils conducive to the expression of refined vintages.
For a French audience between 30 and 70 years old, with high purchasing power, Champagne Telmont embodies the perfect blend of authenticity, elegance, and sustainable commitment. Discover its history, its iconic vintages, its ecological approach, and the reasons for its success—illustrated, detailed, and enriched to entice you and inform your choice.
Champagne Telmont was founded in 1912, in the wake of the Champagne riots, when Henri Lhôpital chose to produce his own champagne worthy of the region. This clear gesture marked the birth of a house rooted in independence, courage, and the defense of local traditions.
The cuirassier helmet logo, the house's emblem, embodies the values of loyalty, bravery, and humility bequeathed by André Lhôpital, son of Henri, a former officer.
For four generations, this family dynasty, led by Serge, then Bertrand and Pascale, has perpetuated this heritage while bringing to it a resolutely forward-looking vision.
Telmont Champagne flourishes on approximately 36 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards spread between Damery, Boursault, and Verneuil, renowned for their clay-limestone soils, which provide an optimal balance between grape ripeness and the freshness typical of the region.
Hand-picking ensures careful grape selection, the basis for cuvées of great finesse.
Sustainable practices and the reduction of chemical products complete this quest for quality.
The vinification of Telmont Champagne combines rigor and sensitivity:
Delicate pressing, fermentation in stainless steel vats, and sometimes barrel aging, depending on the cuvées, to preserve aromatic purity and freshness.
Some blends benefit from malolactic fermentation, providing smoothness and complexity. The cuvées are aged on their lees for extended periods, developing finesse, a silky texture, and a delicate effervescence.
The Telmont champagne range is harmoniously presented:
Réserve Brut: a balance between richness, fruitiness, and freshness
Réserve Rosé: an elegant presence with fruity tones
Blanc de Blancs (Vintages): a pure expression of Chardonnay, finesse and precision
Blanc de Noirs: fuller-bodied, tinged with authenticity
Vinothèque: mature and rare cuvées, carefully aged
Confidential Cuvée / No Added Sulfur: a break with tradition, minimal intervention.
A diverse range that reflects the structured, fresh, airy, yet dense style characteristic of the house.
The “In the Name of Mother Nature” project, launched in 2021:
Objective: to become a 100% organic and regenerative estate.
In 2017, the first plots obtained organic certification.
Today, 72% of the vines—the entire estate and its partners—are cultivated organically or in the process of converting.
Réserve de la Terre
A blend of grapes grown exclusively through organic farming.
Very delicate dosage (2.5g/L), mineral freshness, aromatic (green apple, yuzu, white fruits, spices).
A surprising balance between liveliness and depth, perfect with shellfish or fish.
Réserve de la Terre – Rosé
Launched in June 2025, an organic rosé cuvée, without chemical additives.
Blend: Chardonnay 38%, Meunier 27%, Pinot Noir 35% (with 15% red wine from the Côte des Bars)
Fresh, floral nose with pomegranate, redcurrant, and zest; dynamic palate, saline, spicy finish.
Packaged in a recycled green glass bottle (87% recycled), significantly reducing the carbon footprint.
Telmont Champagne is adopting a radical approach:
Conversion to organic and regenerative agriculture
Net Zero carbon objective by 2050
Phasing out unnecessary packaging, eliminating transparent bottles
Transparent labels clearly indicating production methods
Since 2020, the house has joined the Rémy Cointreau group, which shares its values of terroir, time, and excellence.
Ludovic du Plessis, formerly of Dom Pérignon, is leading this expansion while preserving its artisanal character.
Bertrand Lhôpital, Cellar Master and winemaker, embodies organic and qualitative continuity.
Telmont Champagne offers, beyond tasting:
