Description
Champagne Bollinger Grande Année 2015
Champagne Bollinger Grande Année 2015 is an exceptional cuvée, marking the rare combination of Pinot Noir (60%) and Chardonnay (40%) sourced exclusively from crus (Verzenay, Aÿ, Mareuil, Chouilly, Avize). Fermented entirely in oak barrels and aged for over ten years, this is an iconic vintage for lovers of structured, rich champagnes.
Technical characteristics
- Blend: 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay
- Harvest: Wooded between 4 and 22 September 2015, late harvest for optimal ripeness
- Fermentation: 100% oak barrels, aged for over 10 years in chalk cellars
- Dosage: 8 g/l
Sensory profile
Colour: golden yellow with silvery hues, reflecting maturity and ageing in wood.
Nose: highly complex with stone fruits (grey apple, plum, mirabelle plum), red fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry) followed by exotic touches (mango) and a woody, vanilla finish.
Palate: full-bodied and generous, rich texture reminiscent of mirabelle plum jam, beautiful density, finish marked by notes of chocolate, candied citrus and minerality on schist.
Advantages & strengths
- Great aromatic complexity resulting from blending and ageing in oak barrels.
- A benchmark 2015 vintage, acclaimed by critics (96/100)
- Remarkable balance between power and tension, without expressing the vegetal aspect sometimes present in 2015
- Guaranteed longevity: suitable for ageing until 2040
Tasting contexts
Suitable for accompanying rich dishes: meat in sauce, mushrooms, roast poultry, noble fish (turbot, sea bass), foie gras or mature cheeses. Ready to drink now, this vintage will reveal a broader aromatic palette after a few years in the cellar.
Why this cuvée is unique
Unlike more linear vintages, the Grande Année 2015 embodies the very essence of Bollinger: full fermentation in wood, exceptional ageing, intensity and structured elegance. It also illustrates the House's ability to adapt to climatic challenges (the hot summer of 2015), with thoughtful blending and plot selection, optimal maturity and total control of the estate.
