As the newest member of one of the Champagne world's most famous houses, you could say the Bollinger Brut Rose had something to prove. Not that this bottle has anything to worry about: although this is the first non-Vintage from the brand, and one that has taken 10 years to refine, it is an assembly of luscious flavours that both continues tradition and makes progress into an exciting future. These qualities have been strictly managed in line with the House's Charter of Ethics and Quality – something that was drawn up in 1922 to ensure quality control was adhered to strictly as time marched on.
The Bollinger Brut pink champagne is the product of a loving blend of 60% Pinot Black, 25% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier from Mesnil-sur-Oger, Kitchen, Verzenay Louvois and Ay. The red wine is, naturally, sourced from the very best of these plantations, including Verzenay, and the dosage is light at just 10g per litre.
Intense salmon pink in colour, the Pink champagne Bollinger Brut is a wine that lathers wonderfully, making for an even more intriguing nose that speaks of aromatic notes including ripe red fruit. A degree of vinosity is also present, as is the hallmark of all Bollinger produced wines and Champagnes.
On the palate, the Bollinger Brut Rose champagne is delicate and vinous. Red fruit aromas mix beautifully with a precise level of acidity that drifts stylishly into a finish that is long and pleasing.
