Tasting notes
A light golden yellow colour, punctuated by a fine, persistent effervescence. On the nose, aromas of biscuit, viennoiserie and green apple follow, with hints of citrus fruit, white flowers and fresh butter. On the palate, the attack is frank and lively, the texture velvety, carried by a chalky minerality and well-balanced acidity. The finish is clean, lemony and subtly saline.
Use & context
This magnum format can be used for a variety of purposes: prolonged storage, sharing with friends or simply to showcase a fine bottle. Thanks to its vinification in wood and the absence of malolactic fermentation, this cuvée has good ageing potential; it can be enjoyed now or after a few years in the cellar to gain in complexity.
Why choose this cuvée?
Alfred Gratien stands out for its vinification entirely in oak barrels and its blocking of malolactic fermentation, which has become rare in the region. These technical choices give the Brut cuvée a precise, structured aromatic profile. The magnum format and wooden case add an exceptional character and a fine level of conservation. It is aimed at connoisseurs looking for a non-standard champagne, made with exacting standards.
Serving and storage recommendations
- Serving temperature: around 9-10°C to fully appreciate the fine effervescence.
- Cellar storage: away from light, at a constant temperature (around 10-12°C) and horizontal if possible.
- Use a wide flute or a large champagne glass to release the aromas.
