Its pale gold colour is accompanied by fine, regular bubbles. The nose reveals aromas of exotic fruit, citrus fruit and white flowers, enriched by notes of brioche and toast. On the palate, the velvety texture is combined with a lively tension, offering a lingering, saline finish.

Aromatic profile & tasting

On the nose, this cuvée offers floral and exotic aromas such as lychee and pineapple, accompanied by a subtle mineral touch. On aeration, hints of light brioche, vanilla and toasted notes emerge from the partial barrel ageing.

On the palate, the attack is supple and full-bodied, with a velvety texture. Tension builds gradually, carried by citrus fruit (lemon, grapefruit), white fruit (peach) and a hint of honey or bitter orange. The finish is long, with a chalky salinity that recalls the identity of the terroir.

Origin and history of the cuvée

La Chapelle du Clos comes from a plot planted around a chapel in the Clos Cazals, in Oger. Claude Cazals meticulously cultivates its vines, seeking to express the intimacy between the soil and the Chardonnay grape variety. The 2017 vintage, marked by difficult conditions (frost, late rain), required rigorous work in the vines to achieve this balanced expression.

The partial passage in oak barrels (≈ 10%) brings an additional aromatic dimension without altering the freshness. Prolonged ageing on laths allows excellent integration of the aromatic and structural components.
