Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs 2018 Grand Cru Champagne
Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs 2018 Champagne is a vintage cuvée made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes grown in the Grand Cru terroir of Avize, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs.
With a dosage of 5 g/L, this Extra-Brut combines the generosity of the 2018 vintage with the freshness and chalky minerality characteristic of the Franck Bonville style.
A vintage Blanc de Blancs from the Avize Grand Cru
This cuvée offers a precise expression of the historic terroir of Maison Franck Bonville. The Chardonnay from Avize develops a profile here that is at once luminous, structured and mineral.
The 2018 vintage lends the wine beautiful aromatic maturity and generous body. This richness is balanced by a fresh and taut structure, directly linked to the chalky soils of the Côte des Blancs.
The result is a champagne with character, equally suited to being enjoyed as an aperitif or with a meal featuring fish, shellfish or white meats.
Production of the Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs 2018
The Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs 2018 is vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve the Chardonnay’s aromatic purity and the expression of the terroir.
Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for an extended period on its lees. Its dosage of 5 g/L classifies it as an Extra-Brut champagne.

Tasting notes
Appearance
The colour is a brilliant golden yellow. The effervescence is fine, even and persistent.
On the nose
The bouquet opens with aromas of vine peach, fresh citrus and white flowers. With aeration, more indulgent notes of lightly golden brioche emerge.
On the palate
The attack is full-bodied and silky, driven by the vintage’s ripeness. The texture remains balanced by a precise, chalky tension. The long, briny finish prolongs the citrus notes and the minerality of the Avize Chardonnay.
What dishes go well with the Franck Bonville 2018?
The finesse of its effervescence, its freshness and its depth mean this Blanc de Blancs can be served just as easily as an aperitif as it can during a meal.
It pairs particularly well with:
- oysters or a seafood platter;
- a scallop carpaccio;
- langoustines or grilled prawns;
- roast sea bass served with a beurre blanc;
- a risotto with shellfish and candied lemon;
- free-range poultry with morels;
- a Chaource or a mild hard cheese.
The minerality of this cuvée pairs particularly well with raw fish, shellfish and seafood dishes. Its full-bodied texture also makes it a good match for white meat or a dish with a creamy sauce.
Temperature and serving advice
Serve Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs 2018 Champagne at between 10 and 12 °C, in a tulip glass or a sufficiently wide white wine glass.
Opening the bottle a few minutes before serving will allow the bouquet to develop. When serving at the table, avoid serving it too cold, as this could mask the vintage’s aromatic depth.
Store the bottle lying down in a dark place, away from vibrations and significant temperature fluctuations.
