Champagne Clos Cazals 2015 – Extra Brut | Grand Cru
Clos Cazals 2015 is a cuvée produced from a 3.5-hectare vineyard planted in 1957, on the chalky terroirs of Oger. Only 2,000 bottles were produced, ensuring its rarity.
Terroir & grape variety
- 100% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs (Oger – Mesnil)
- Vines averaging 60 years old, on limestone soil
Vinification & ageing
- Dosage: Extra Brut (≈ 2 g/L) — a very low level highlighting the purity of the fruit
- Partial fermentation in barrels (20%) to add structure
- Extended ageing on lees – over 9 years – ensuring complexity and balance
Aromatic profile
- Nose: candied citrus, jasmine, brioche and slightly buttery notes
- Palate: lively and mineral attack, with a creamy texture, hints of hazelnut and candied lemon
- Notable aromatic persistence, with a salty and spicy finish
Ageing potential & food pairing
- Estimated ageing potential until 2040–2042, evolving balance between freshness and power
