Mercier...what can be said about this champagne legend which will surprise? Well, those who are newer to bubbly may be intrigued to learn that Mercier's past is rich with a history of involvement with other even bigger champagne brands. Founded in 1858 and producing both non-vintage and vintage varieties, in 1930, Mercier actually possessed control of the name Dom Pérignon and then sold the name to Moët et Chandon.
In the present day, it's no surprise to many that the house is controlled by the powerful LVMH group. Additionally, as many people in France are well aware, Mercier is extremely sought after and well-known far and wide. A sign that this champagne brand isn't going anywhere in the near future, we think.
