Champagne Gosset - A Tradition of Excellence

Aÿ is a place in the Champagne Region where dreams come alive and making some of the finest Champagne on Earth is considered routine. Yet this routine never becomes lazy or second best to quantity – and it all began early in 1584 when Pierre Gosset began his quest to produce wines from the bounty of his own vineyards. A story that is familiar, but as with every house out there, is completely unique to the originators.

One might think that rivalry was non-existent back then, with this fledgling business only in its infancy and the long road ahead unknown. In fact, nothing could be considered less true, as is demonstrated by the competition fought between that of Aÿ and Beaune – made all the more fiersome by the fact that both wines were made from Pinot and Chardonnay Black.

Champagne Gosset: Discovery of the Domaine

Welcome to the exceptional world of the Gosset Champagne House, a gem nestled in the heart of Épernay, where the history of champagne merges with tradition. The estate extends majestically over a listed park, beneath which wind 1.7 km of 19th century cellars. These cellars, dug with passion, are the cradle of the production of exceptional champagnes.

A Journey Through Time: The Origins of Gosset

Let's go back in time to the year 1584, when Pierre Gosset, lord and alderman of Aÿ, decided to open a wine trading house. Thus was born the oldest Wine House in Champagne. Since those distant times, sixteen generations have succeeded one another, preserving family know-how with passion.

An Alloy of History and Independence

The Gosset family has survived the centuries while remaining an independent family business. In 1993, a new page was written with the merger within the Renaud-Cointreau family group. This alliance, sealed by the creation of the Gosset Celebris vintage Cuvées, propels Champagne Gosset to the top of the prestigious Houses.

The Craftsmanship of Maison Gosset, The Perpetuated Champagne Tradition

For more than four centuries, Maison Gosset has perpetuated exceptional know-how in the production of Champagne wines with a unique character. From 1584, Pierre Gosset produced still wines, laying the foundations of family craftsmanship respectful of tradition.

The Elegance of an Antique Bottle

In 1760, Jean Gosset introduced the antique bottle, the iconic emblem of the House. This exclusive bottle, nicknamed for its "antique glass" colored glass paste, is adorned with a unique label in Champagne, the "saltire medallion," created by Albert Gosset. A bottle that evokes authenticity and history with every glance.

The Exceptional Terroirs of Gosset

The Grands Vins de Champagne de Gosset draw their authenticity from the diverse terroirs of the region. With 140 hectares spread across the entire appellation, the grapes come from a wide range of vintages. This diversity makes it possible to compose harmonious vintages, preserving the Gosset style year after year.

Champagne Gosset: a Style and an Inimitable Signature

The Gosset style is distinguished by great mineral freshness combined with deep vinosity. This unique signature comes from a unique vinification method, preserving the original freshness of the grape's aromas and offering elegant and complex wines, ready to age in cellars.

The Artisans of the Gosset Style

Odilon de Varine, oenologist and Deputy General Director, alongside cellar master Gabrielle Malagu, are the guardians of the Gosset style. Imbued with the House spirit, they perpetuate the work initiated by Jean-Pierre Mareigner, former cellar master, who emphasized: "At Gosset, we first develop a wine, the bubbles enhance it."

The Gosset Champagne Range: A Palette of Emotions

Champagne Gosset Grande Réserve: Fruity-Mineral Harmony

A majority blend of Pinots and Chardonnays gives rise to the Grande Réserve. With a minimum maturation of 4 years in cellars, this champagne reveals a perfect balance between freshness, fruitiness and vinosity, preserving the purity of the wine.

Champagne Gosset Grand Rosé: Freshness and Finesse in Rose

A rosé made with a high proportion of Chardonnays, the Grand Rosé seduces with its freshness and straightness. The Pinot Noirs, vinified in white and red, add a crisp and delicate touch. Aging for at least 4 years in cellars ensures its perfect balance.

Champagne Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs: The Mineral Radiance of Spring

Made with the first rays of the spring sun, this Blanc de Blancs expresses the minerality of the Champagne terroirs. Selected from different vintages, the Chardonnays display the luminous shine of chalk. Maturation of at least 4 years in cellars reveals a vintage balanced between freshness and fruitiness.

Champagne Gosset Grand Millésime: Fruity and Structured

A majority blend of Pinots Noirs gives life to the Grand Millésime, balanced by the finesse of the Chardonnays. After bottling in the spring following the harvest, this champagne reveals all its complexity after aging in cellars. The precise dosage maintains the balance between freshness, fruitiness and vinosity.

Champagne Gosset Petite Douceur Rosé: Gentle Pleasure

This rosé, rich in Chardonnays, seduces with its freshness and finesse. Aged in cellars for a minimum of 11 years, it offers an exceptional aromatic structure. The precisely chosen extra-dry dosage maintains the balance between freshness, fruitiness and purity.

A little more dosed than the grand rosé, the scents remind us of barley sugars and raspberry jams from our grandmothers. A final on the effervescence which lightens without attacking the notes of exotic fruits.
