Discover the Excellence of Lucie Cheurlin: A Fascinating Story of the Champagne

The history of Lucie Cheurlin goes back several generations, where winemaking know-how has been passed down from generation to generation. His legacy begins with long walks in the heart of the vineyards with his great-grandfather Etienne, instilling in his brother Sébastien a deep connection with nature. His father, Richard, continues to teach them careful observation of their land, emphasizing the value of surrounding ecosystems for the health of their soils. This detailed understanding of the microcosm that surrounds their plots guides their approach to maintaining the balance of the vines, naturally directing them towards organic viticulture.

History and Family Tradition in Champagne

Added to this lineage is the deep attachment of their grandfather, André, to the exceptional terroir of the Côte des Bar, the precious advice of a renowned oenologist, as well as a family passionate about wine, characterized by women strong and determined. This is the very essence of what they seek to convey through their wines.

Champagne Lucie Cheurlin: A Homage to the Terroir

The Côte des Bar, this wine gem hidden in the heart of Champagne, reveals all its splendor. Family history is closely linked to this exceptional place. From his youth, André's grandfather, born in 1934, had an unshakeable faith in this land. Between the 1950s and 1970s, a massive investment in the hillsides was made, thus expanding the precious family heritage. The advent of harvesters-handlers in the 1970s and the creation of exceptional vintages by local winegrowers greatly contributed to making the name of Champagne resonate throughout this vineyard.

The Estate: A Symphony of Terroirs and Grape Varieties

Located in Celles-sur-Ource, in the heart of the Côte de Bar, the estate has expanded with particular attention paid to the diversity of soils and vintages, thus promoting harmonious complementarity. The vines flourish in the Ource, Seine and Arce Valley, where mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are grown, accompanied by a touch of Pinot Blanc. The careful selection of grape varieties according to the terroir constitutes an essential element for the exceptional quality of the current vineyard.

Since their return to the family estate, the brother and sister have undertaken various alternatives to chemical viticulture, aiming to bring the soil back to life. Today, the 5 hectares of vineyard are worked in organic viticulture, excluding any chemical products and favoring the application of biodynamic preparations.

Craftsmanship and Champagne Production Process

Lucie Cheurlin's philosophy is embodied in each stage of the production of her Champagnes. From the meticulous care given to the vines to the winemaking, each process is an expression of its commitment to quality and authenticity. The manual harvest, carried out at optimal maturity, preserves the integrity of the fruit and demonstrates respect for the terroir.
